Great to have you over here, thanks for joining in. There are so many choices for citiy areas. Which kind of cities do you prefer to work on? Barbarian wilderness, civilised? And when it comes to exterior stuff well the worlds your oyster here, I'm just working on one region of wilderness, working out levelled lists etc for the region editor to deposit when it does its run of trees, rocks etc. Just let me know your preferences, what you need from me and so on. What I thought about doing was to populate all of the regions with general stuff leaving the city, village and so forth areas clear just with perhaps roads between them, then post up the master file so that people can download it, do their bit to it as a plugin then send me the plugin and I can merge it into the master file. If you fancy doing some modelling theres tonnes to be done, I can send you the 3d files with all the textures etc, just let me know what you need.

hey. id love to work on a large metropolitan city civilised, purhaps maybe like the capitol? or one of? if ou could upload just the master esm file for my use thats all i need. i wont need to test any of it ingame so i wont need any lod data files or anything. about the modelling bit: im really stuck into a project for uni at the moment, so any 3d work out of that will bore the crap outta me. lol.

id much prefer to discuss this using emails. im not much of a fan of forums for ongoing discussion.

how big is just the master data file? excluding lod

oh crap, i realised i would need all of these new modles you've made, so how big would it all add up to, once again, without the lod stuff?

Including all of the nif files and textures it would be enormous, about 500MB. Not enough stuff is done yet for the capital city so it would be better to do another city, give me a few hours and I'll take a look about and find somewhere good, plus work out the models needed etc.

would it be possible to upload it in smaller "packs" as i dont have the time, or a good enough internet connection to download a 500MB file in one go. or maybe even a torrent. that would work well for me too.

I think the heightmap alone is about 350MB with no regions etc attached. Havent a clue about torrents and never touch such sites. I dont know if it could be split somehow to help downloading. Is 350 still too big?

Where theres a will theres a way, I'll look into being able to split the file somehow. In the meantime what are you like with the region editor? Have you ever tried it? I'm spending ages at the minute trying and testing small land areas not attached to the main mod, trying to achieve unique looks for mountains, desert, forests etc, or maybe something else you could do. I am just getting advice from some other large landmass modders to find out the best way to do the work. Also there are literally huge numbers of textures to do, anything ancient greek, persian, etruscan etc etc, plus clothing, tonnes.

Exactly the kind of stuff I'm searching the net for daily, brilliant. How are you at desert landscapes? There's hardly anything in the CS for that.

Hi.

I'm not sure what would be best, whatever is least taxing on memory I suppose would be best, however if that will ruin the feel somewhat then better go for best quality. I'll post up some of the current textures I am using, rock types and buildings if that will help. Do you want them in dds or jpeg or bmp?

no problem, will do within 24 hours. Bear with me I am just coursing the edge of a heart attack doing the region editing. The landmass is 370MB. First region merged comes to 30MB thats just 13 quads out of 170. I havent increased the java heap yet for TES4GECKO which bodes well, but each merge to master keeps my teeth on edge. If the very worst comes to the worst and I cant squeeze the region content into one master file then I will have to drop back a couple of master files and shave off the edges of the landmass, thankfully I saved every single landmass increase of 10quads.

Ok textures now available in the download section. They are the land textures at the moment, I can also pack the models and textures if you wish.
