I watched a few days ago a documentary on the Syracusia an absolutely vast ship built by the greeks. http://www.mlahanas.de/Greeks/Syracusia.htmI was wondering, as the Holorian navy is built around a hub of Sea Garrisons that are large galleys, wind assisted and were meant to house up to sixty marines plus crew then why not take it one step further and build a model with interiors etc based upon the syracuse. It could be scripted to appear at various places at set times, or even by using just a few basic models be a truly moving item. There are no very decent pictures of the ship, just some ridiculous artistic stuff, but the picture in mind is one of a very large galley, mostly sail powered, with three or four decks, upper working deck, first class deck, temple, bath etc, lower class rooms, kitchen and so forth, then the cargo deck with access to bilge. This is something no other mod offers and if done sensibly could add some interesting quests on board the ship. What do the team think?

I think you're a glutton for punishment. It's an interesting idea, and well worth elaborating if you feel you have the time. A good place to base a second quest, I think. Just keep it away from icebergs.

Agreed. I dont intend to spend much time on it yet, well none at the moment, too busy with other things. It just seemed quite unique. I will keep it on the back burner but now and again if anyone wants to add an idea, especially a design one then please do so.

Excellent idea! There's that steered ship mod WIP that would likely suit us well. It would mean we'd be able to use ships travelling predefined paths as well as deliberately steer them. I think a ship-borne adventure would be ideal - I think we're planning a bunch of strange islands and societies in the middle sea anyway. Having an impressive boat for an 'oddyssey' would really set that off! They'd also make good 'furniture' at a naval base; the Holorian navy in port.

I have nearly completed the Sea Garrison model but this Syracusia type would be something entirely different, a great deal larger, probably about 50-60 metres long, a three decks below and some buildings on the top. A library, an eating area for the rich, one for the poor, a temple, a bath, military garrison rooms, captain and crew quarters, deck shelters, bilge, cargo holds, cabins running of a main corridor with the first class cabins with doors onto balconies.
Anyway, all in the planning stage. As I said, too much else to do at present.

Could be used for something like a deep exploration quest, such as Zheng He's expeditions. Interesting piccy. As you say, back burner for now, may even be part of a method of accessing a far-off land in a future Mesogea expansion.
